It’s been a year and five months since our last blog post – truthfully, nothing much has happened to Dream Systems. It is too old now to go around the film festival circuit; it has long since stopped being shown on the music video channels; I am sure the song itself still gets radio airplay, though probably only on weekends (requested by the old-school romantics like myself).

The only updates I can give regarding Dream Systems are the following:

  • We didn’t win in Animahenasyon 2007, though being a finalist was cool enough
  • We were featured in an art exhibit in mag:net Katipunan last October 2008.  We displayed both the video itself on a projector screen and some stills from the vid.

Dream Systems - mag:net Katipunan

I don’t know if or when Dream Systems will ever be shown again – but I feel it has had a good run, and once in a while, we (the band and the crew) watch it again, like a friendly reminder of where we came from. I rewatched it recently myself, including the live shoot footage, and I felt two things: a wave of nostalgia for the past and all we’ve learned from it, and a renewed sense of respect for all things (im)possible.

Here it is again: Dream Systems, a music video by the Purplechickens and the Artist Society. Cheers!

Dream Systems is a finalist in the Animahenasyon 2007 festival!

We’re joining the Animahenasyon 2007 Pinoy Animation Festival. They have a dedicated music video category, so I’m hoping our chances are good.

I also blogged about Dream Systems in my personal site. It’s been over a year since the launch and we’ve been lying low.  But seeing the film again made me realize it deserves another chance to be seen by the public. Spread the love and all that 😉

I just created a page with the YouTube video of Dream Systems embedded. That means you can watch it right from this very site 🙂 Enjoy!

*More* late news! (Thanks to my father who pointed this out to me; he’s the reason we have article space at all. My dad is the most awesome voluntary press agent ever!)

Dream Systems was mentioned in yesterday’s (July 2, Monday) edition of the Philippine Star, page F-2 in the Art & Culture section. Writer Alfred “Krip” Yuson reposted my dad’s e-mail message about the video being shown in Cannes, DeReel, and CCP, and shared the links to this website and my personal blog as well. To be mentioned by Krip Yuson is already awesome; to have my blogs possibly read by him is a bit embarrassing 😛 But as always, I’m thankful for any kind of recognition the video gets. Thank you, Dad and Mr. Yuson!

I found this article four months late, unfortunately 😉

Indie rock band
In the animation category, the jury, composed of Vic Acedillo, Sigfreid Barros Sanchez and Mike Sandejas, chose Paraluman Cruz’s “Dream Systems,” a music video in animation made for the indie rock band, The Purple Chickens (sic).

Welcome to our new site! We’re still working out the kinks, but we’ve migrated all of our old posts into this new WordPress space. Comments couldn’t be migrated though, sorry 😐

We also added an Awards page to list down all the festivals we’ve joined (and to show off our pretty laurels). We found out recently that we didn’t win at either DeReel or Short Film Corner – but that’s okay. The fact that somebody across the world has seen our video makes the experience worth it 🙂
